Does Your Children Know The Difference Between Reality And Fantasy? Know How You Can Help

Being a parent, we are often confronted in teaching them the difference between reality and fantasy. It is not an easy task, though. Your little angels have wide imaginations. We should prepare ourselves how to answer their out-of-the-world questions like ‘Mom, is there a monster under my bed?’ or ‘does toys come alive when everyone is asleep?’.

Those are just some things they imagine like they were real. Therefore, you need to help them identify the difference between the two. But how? Little Smiles advise the following:

Let your child know what’s not real.

First thing first. Talk to him/her and let your kid understand the real thing behind fantasy. For example, your kid may blame his friend (imaginary) for breaking the glasses in the kitchen. But as an adult, we all know that it is a lie. However, your kid’s perception it is not an invention, but rather a good way to escape from whatever consequence.

So, you need to find a good way how you’ll let them know that the thing they believe is not real.

Ask straightforward questions.

These question related to what actually happened will let your kids explain everything in his/her own words. Tell him that you already know what really happen. You need to help your child understand that through being honest, he/she is doing the right thing.

Remind them calmly that honesty pays off every time. That way, he/she would like to please you. If that the case, grab the opportunity to discuss the difference between being truthful and lying in the future.

Help them fight their fright.

There are different ways on how you could help them combat their fights. Say for instance, monsters are popular scary thing among toddlers. Telling them that monsters don’t really exists today won’t help though. The best thing to do here is that sympathize  with what they feel and be his/her buddy in finding ways to defeat that monster.

On the other hand, you can also accompany her/him in reading scary things. Through encountering frightening stuff/people in the book could let your child explore his/her fear.

Introduce them to the world of pretend.

At the age of two, your kid tends to develop their brain circuitry which lets him hold a pen and imagine it is an airplane. Eating from an imaginary plate, sweeping pretend broom and so on are some ways for them to know the world of reality. At this stage, he/she is discovering different behavior and emotions.

You don’t have to spend lots of money when buying pretend play toys. Simple and affordable Little Smiles wholesale outdoor toys are great as long as they match to the learning needs of your child. Make the most of your spending for your kid’s toys. Buy the ones that can build and motivate learning and growth to every aspect of their lives. Giving the best to your kids can be showed even in simple ways such as buying them toys that’s worth your money.

These are some of the ways you can do to assist in recognizing what’s real and what’s not. Always make sure that you let them feel your support and your affection along the process.
